Lyrics

Little Moon For Psychopaths

Part 1
Orchestra plays “Midnight, the Stars & You”

Part 2
Bess Houdini’s (widow of Harry Houdini) statement
made after the final and again anavailing séance
that was held on the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel,
Beverly Hills, CA, on October 31, 1936, the 10th anniversary
of Harry Houdini’s death:

“My last hope is gone. I do not believe that Houdini can come back to me or to anyone.
Spirit communication in any form is impossible. I do not believe that ghosts or spirits exist.
The Houdini shrine has burned for 10 years. I now, reverently, turn out the light.
It is finished. Good night, Harry.”

Part 3
Narrator:
Sometimes you’re so sad
And sometimes you’re so scared
And no one seems to know you
And no one seems to care
I can hardly wait
To see you comin’ past
On my little moon for psychopaths

Nothing really matters
And no one has a clue
A universe of questions
That crumbles over you
Free your mind from sorrow
And troubles’ aftermath
On my little moon for psychopaths…

Part 4
Dance of disquietingly patterns

Part 5
Narrator:
You can be a giant
And you can be a troubadour
For each and every sanity
You will find a cure
Here’s the place to leave behind
Your earthly avatars
On my little moon for psychopaths

Part 6
Puppet Dance
Bess Houdini: “Good night, Harry.”

Part 7
Narrator:
So if you need a holiday
Far off from this world
You’ll be welcomed by my sirens’ songs
And mysteries unfurled
Send out funny postcards
From mad owls full of stars
On my little moon for psychopaths…

Part 8
Ghost voice:
Nothing, there ain’t nothing, there ain’t nothing in room 237

Nothing, there ain’t nothing, there ain’t nothing in room 237
But you ain’t got no business going in there anyway
So stay out! Stay out! …ad lib.
YOU UNDERSTAND?

Part 9
Remote audience noise.
Cheshire Cat: “So irre und so geistgestört
Der Uhu schreit, der Hirsch der röhrt
Die Tigerkatze hat’s gehört
Was den Momratz empört…”

Part 10
Orchestral reprise “Midnight, the Stars & You”

Part 11
Silence…
